Veteran PM Robert Fico’s left-wing Smer party finished first, although, not many predicted a bright future for the sovereignist politician after his resignation as head-of-government in 2018. The pro-West liberal Progressive Slovakia party came in second, while the pro-EU social democratic Hlas received the third most votes.
