A week after the Hungarian parliamentary elections, the Election Night series of Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) once again focus on events abroad. This time, the first round of the French presidential election was on the agenda at the MCC headquarters in Tas vezér Street.
During the campaign, the main issues that shaped the French presidential election were migration, identity, purchasing power, health, economic and social reform, education and wages, as it was stated at the event.
Participating analysts agreed that there had been a marked rapprochement between France and Hungary in recent years. It was said that both Emmanuel Macron and Viktor Orbán were two Heads of State and Government with a strong vision for Europe. Although the emphases and goals may differ, there are points of connection between the two countries, regardless of the outcome of the election.
