The Migration Research Institute was established in 2015 as a cooperation between Mathias Corvinus Collegium and the Századvég Foundation. The institute serves as a workshop that interprets contemporary global migration patterns and, in particular, its effects in Europe. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of migration, our faculty at the Institution range from africologists to turkologists, experts in international law, researchers engaged in security policy, political scientists and economists.
The Migration Research Institute publicizes academic and professional research in both Hungarian and English and regularly presents their findings in Hungary’s public media. The institute has also become an active player in the Hungarian and international research community. Since its establishment, the Institute has participated in numerous Hungarian and international conferences, workshops and other professional events. The Institute attaches special importance to gathering on-the-ground information about current migration processes and institute researchers have travelled to Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Morocco, Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda.
The Head of the Institute is Director Tamás Dezső.
