Dr. Peter Boghossian, participant of the MCC Visiting Fellowship Program was the guest of this year’s third MCC Lunch Talks event. He gave a presentation on methods of conversation and debate between people of different views.

How to agree with your debate partner to disagree? Dr. Boghossian explained how to keep a discussion moderate and to think about the extent to which the "general truth" and one's own opinion overlap, and how far we are able to acknowledge the subjectivity of one’s own perspective. One of the main messages of this presentation was that debates do have their merits, but it is good to know the recipe for good argumentation.

The MCC Lunch Talks series aims to provide MCC faculty, visiting fellows, and students with opportunities to discuss their academic work and research findings.
