A full house and more than 150 MCC students welcomed Jordan B. Peterson at the Budapest Sports Arena. The world-famous Canadian professor and psychologist spoke about value judgment, the role of ethical thinking, and the importance of faith and family.
There is no alternative to putting the family and traditional values at the center of human life and thought," Jordan B Peterson said in response to a question from the audience about Hungary's politics. The psychologist professor pointed out that the neo-Marxist philosophical position, which tries to interpret all human relationships along the lines of the struggle for dominance, is naive. To be happy in life, human relationships must be driven by a higher ideal, an idea.
The author of several books that go beyond progressive psychological theories also argued that our perceptions and actions are influenced by ideas and value judgments and that shared values are the basis of human relationships and, through them, that of society. Peterson has shown, through several biblical stories, that it is the spirit, the faith that gives meaning to our actions. Without common values and ethics, people feel lost and lonely. Higher order and values are the basis of all human culture, he added.
Jordan B. Peterson, in collaboration with his students and colleagues at Harvard and the University of Toronto, has published more than a hundred scholarly papers that have transformed the modern understanding of personality, while his book Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief revolutionized the psychology of religion. His book 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos was published in 2018 and has sold over 4 million copies worldwide. The sequel, Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life, was released on March 2, 2021. Co-hosted by Mathias Corvinus Collegium, Jordan B. Peterson arrived in Hungary to present his latest book. At the end of his presentation, he promised that the Hungarian audience would have the opportunity to see him again early next year.
