Robert McKee will be in Hungary between 16 and 18 November, at the invitation of Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC). Hollywood's most sought-after screenwriting instructor will deliver a three-day masterclass called STORY Seminar for students and interested attendees. The seminar, which started some four decades ago, have been running with huge success from Los Angeles through Sao Paulo to Sydney. At the invitation of the newly launched MCC Story Lab led by the screenwriter Norbert Köbli, the American expert will introduce students to the craft and behind-the-scenes secrets of filmmaking, now in Budapest.

Since its launch, the course has been completed by over 100,000 people, with over 70 subsequent Academy Award, 250 Emmy and 100 WGA Award winners. Robert McKee's best-known students include Peter Jackson, screenwriter and director of The Lord of the Rings; Akiva Goldsman, screenwriter of A Beautiful Mind; Andrew Stanton, director of Wall-E; Paul Haggis, screenwriter of Million Dollar Baby and Casino Royale. In addition, several actors, such as Kirk Douglas, Julia Roberts, Meg Ryan, Jimmy Fallon, Russell Brandt and the Monty Python mainstay John Cleese have also attended the course. He has also worked with professionals who have been actively involved in the making of Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, House of Cards, The Wolf of Wall Street and Frozen.

The three-day exclusive and intensive masterclass at MCC will give students a first-hand experience of the craft of filmmaking with an artistic finesse, a skill that cannot be acquired anywhere else. Robert McKee aims to help students understand the complexity of the given genre and embrace a degree of artistic freedom where there are no more rules. He believes that screenwriting is an organic process that cannot be confined within a rigid framework. "McKee rarely gives lectures nowadays, so this is a unique opportunity not only for film professionals in Hungary but also in the region," said Norbert Köbli, screenwriter and head of the MCC Story Lab, whose film Blokád (Blockade) has been nominated by Hungary for the 95th Academy Awards this year.

The venue for the three-day seminar will be the MCC Budapest headquarters in Tas Vezér Street.
