Our key presenter, Dr Bert J.M. de Vries, holds a Ph.D. from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. He wrote his doctoral thesis on sustainable resource use. He is co-founder of the Institute for Energy and Environment at the University of Groningen. He has published extensively in the fields of resource and in particular energy analysis, modelling and policy, climate change and global change modelling, and (complex) systems modelling of sustainable development. He has been actively involved, inter alia, in modelling and scenario development for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

The keynote presentation by Dr Bert J.M. de Vries will be followed by a panel discussion. The panellists are cultural anthropologist Dr Calum T.M. Nicholson and government and security policy expert Logan West. Enikő Ördög junior researcher will moderate the event. The language of the event will be English. We will provide limited availability of Hungarian translation equipment for the event.
