Conference Description

In the past two decades, the European Union and its member states have been hit by a series of escalating crises, culminating with the war in Ukraine. It was in this backdrop of economic, geopolitical, and social uncertainty that the European Parliament elections were held on June 6–9.  Although its long-term consequences are yet to be seen, it is clear that this election will have lasting consequences for the European political landscape and European integration for the foreseeable future.

To help dissect and predict the long-term results of the EP elections, Mathias Corvinus Collegium’s School of Social Sciences and History is organizing an international conference to discuss the outcome of the elections, with particular focus on voter motivation, the strategies, ideologies and platforms of parties, the election’s possible consequences, the future role of the European Parliament and member states in shaping the future of the EU as well as the chances of further cooperation in East-Central Europe in light of the elections.
