Culture wars are characterized by heated debates and disagreements on political, social, and cultural issues, and all have implications that reach beyond national borders. In South America, the cultural landscape is diverse, with each country having its unique blend of traditions, beliefs, and values. This diversity has led to a complex web of cultural tensions, often centered around issues such as immigration, identity, and social problems.

The culture wars in South America and Europe are part of a broader global trend, where cultural tensions are being used to divert attention from economic woes and to evade serious repercussions. But how are these interconnected?

We are going to look to answer these questions with:

  • Gustavo Leite, Senator of the Parliament of Paraguay
  • Diego Morales, Secretary of State of Indiana
  • Pier Pigozzi, International Vice-Rector of the University of Public Service
  • Moderator: Rodrigo Ballester, Head of the Center for European Studies at MCC
