The aim of our Center for History, in collaboration with the Rubicon Institute, is to introduce students from the most diverse higher education institutions of Mathias Corvinus Collegium to the most important achievements of modern historiography and to provide them with the necessary reference points for the interpretation of history.
Indeed, the presentation of the lessons of history is indispensable in the training of the responsible intellectuals of the future. Those who fail to acquire this knowledge are more likely to become followers and victims of fashionable ideologies. However, history, if not the teacher of life as it has so long been claimed, gives us an insight into who we are, what we have been and what we can be.
We do not seek to delve into the minutiae of the distant past, but to provide a comprehensive picture of a larger era. We do not separate the processes of Hungarian and universal history, but draw attention to their interconnections and interactions. In our educational activities we pay special attention to Central Europe and the history of the Carpathian Basin. We complement our theoretical and skill-building courses with conferences, competitions, guest lectures and other events.
